I started learning yoga more then 20 years ago (in 2002) as a way to help myself.
Asthma, diseases of the spine (chronic prolapse of the disc and sciatica), problems with the heart, hormones (endometriosis), kidneys and several other ailments forced me to make my own health a priority in my life.
My first contact with Ashtanga was in 2007 and since then I have been constantly developing and practicing in this tradition. I spent the previous 4 years learning and teaching Iyengar Yoga while practicing Tai Chi, thanks to which I discovered other elements of working with the body and mind. They highlighted the aspects of Hatha Yoga, which for me was incomplete in its dimension. As Hatha Yoga Pradipika says – Hatha Yoga is a stage on the Ashtanga Yoga (Raja Yoga) path.
I have been a teacher almost 20 years.
I have conducted over 200 workshops (including Teacher’s Training).
For over a decade I have been coming to Mysore in India regularly to develop my practice and skills under the guidance of Saraswathi Jois (Shri K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute). I have participated in many workshops and courses by famous and less known teachers. I explore the anatomical, energetic and, above all, spiritual aspects of Ashtanga.
For me, Ashtanga is a return to the Home that we carry deep in our hearts.
I teach according to the old tradition – step by step.
I began to observe and learn how our thoughts, emotions, through energy patterns, are manifested in small settings, rotations, tensions in the physical body or in the functioning of internal organs. The same mechanism works the other way around; our body influences our thinking, emotions and perception. This knowledge is the foundation of the work I do, work aimed at restoring the right patterns, and only secondly at relieving suffering. Yoga Therapy. The goal is mental and physical health, not another asana or series. Health, on the other hand, is a prerequisite and condition for further stages of Yoga. It is a path for everyone, regardless of individual possibilities, as long as there is a Will, because nothing will do itself.
For me, working on a mat is working with myself at a deep level, sometimes very difficult, but bringing tangible results that should be manifested in everyday life. No compromises, no choice of what is comfortable and nice, no stopping the transformation in the middle, no hypocrisy, no building a media image diferent from reality.
Sometimes you have to jump over the gap with the student (crossing borders), accompany them through hardships, give a sleeve to wipe their tears, and sometimes set a border, criticize (actions, not a person), enforce what is right and not necessarily pleasant. I am a teacher who wants to help, motivates and provides support, but I am also demanding and consistent.
I have experience in working with people who are chronically ill, after accidents, with various injuries, with emotional problems, with physically and mentally weakened people, in terms of rehabilitation and fitness, with elderly people, with pregnant women and with athletes for whom it is supplementing proper training, repairing the body after injuries and mitigating the negative effects of a given sports discipline.
Who you are now depends on who you were. Who you will be tomorrow will be the result of WHO YOU ARE TODAY… Dhammapada
